Miyako - Bubbles Z by slycherrychunks Miyako - Bubbles Z by slycherrychunks
Chins a little off, left arm seems slightly unnatural, arse is hanging out.

Really tried hard with this one.

you did a goof job drawing Miyako/Bubbles I think you should draw Momoko/Blossom, and Kaoru/Buttercup too!

Not bad, SCC! :) And even more impressive than your effort on Bubbles is your ability to take advice from Seir WITHOUT freaking out! I've never seen anybody do that before! :wow:

But have yet to resort to SERIOUS name-calling and requesting that he no longer critique your work. You're still in pretty rare company in that regard, heh. :)

i'd say your problem is trying as hard as you did.

try going too fucking fast to know exactly what you're doing.
works for me!

It's a nicely done picture overall, Sly. Miyako might have a few problems that may need fixing (by your wish, of course) but she came out pretty decent to me. So :+fav:.

Form/structure:

Pigtails are a bit large, then again, it always grows back in and out in the original, so you never know what's the real size. Her "right" pigtail are also too big because of the perspective you gave her. But for accuracy next time I would go for the official model sheets. *I show it to you in the forums noes?* [link]

Her hair clip should be kinda small, that looks like it's going over to the other side of her head.

I Follow the wand from one end to the other, it doesn't follow the perspective to the rest of the entire body of the wand. Best point to look at is the shape of the orb design at the end, and then look at the loop. It's like you turn the loop along with the orb closest to the loop around 30 degrees. Also the loop at the end crooked a bit to the right, and it no longer looks like an oval.

The string of hair that looks like it came from her ears. Should be in the front, not in the back. Assuming you are trying to go as close to the original as possible, because if I were to do it, I would definitely do what you did here.

Since she's in a profile shot, her "right" should shouldn't be visible because of her vest. Also, you made her right shoulder protector *I don't know what else to call them" bigger than her left.

The vest on her right side confused me a little bit because of the way you color it. IF the light source is coming from the right side, then there should be shading there.

The ring on her finger creeps up a bit too much, it would make more sense if it were to show only the side of the ring on that angle.

coloring:

Your base colors seems fine.

the only thing that bugs me is that your shadings are too soft, you need to make it more sharp, but not too sharp. And it also depends if it's her clothes or her skin tone that needs the sharp/soft shading. I'll show it to you if you want.

I must've missed a couple of weird things in there, but for the time being those are the ones that stand out the most for me. So try and fix those first.

Overall, pretty decent job. That background kicks are :D arr!

I'll have to address a few of your points here because I dont think you know what you're talking about.

Pic I used as reference: [link]

>> Follow the wand from one end to the other, it doesn't follow the perspective to the rest of the entire body of the wand. Best point to look at is the shape of the orb design at the end, and then look at the loop. It's like you turn the loop along with the orb closest to the loop around 30 degrees.<<

The blue line down the middle is way off if thats what you're talking about. The gem at the end of the wand is supposed to be tear shaped so I think the persepective looks okay. If it is off, then its off by something like 0.000000001%.

>>The string of hair that looks like it came from her ears. Should be in the front, not in the back. Assuming you are trying to go as close to the original as possible, because if I were to do it, I would definitely do what you did here.<<

It is infront. Look on the full view, the lines go infront of the ears on both sides. The string on her left is sort of "floating" because I didnt want to busy her face up with too many lines. Placement may be off, again by about 0.0001%.

>>Since she's in a profile shot<<

Er, no.

>>her "right" should shouldn't be visible because of her vest.<<

They're visible on the reference art, although I may have done them too big and too wide apart.

I don't know what you mean about the colouring on her vest but I agree with all the other points.

---[link] Look at her wand here, I know it's kinda small but you can see the way it's made pretty well. And now look at yours. You see what I meant where it turns as it goes from one end to the other. And it's not just that blue line.

---[link] That is pretty off, you put it on the end of her ear when it should be closer to the side burns.

"Er, no."

--You have her turn to her "right" around 30 degrees from the front view right?? that should be a profile shot, no matter how she's posed.

"They're visible on the reference art, although I may have done them too big and too wide apart."

--I think that's it, you have her "right" shoulder pops out too much where it should've been covered by her shoulder protector thing. [link]

--as for the coloring of her vest, [link] See how the vest is colored darker when it's behind their chest. That's what I meant, shade it in.

--I don't see it, although I admit the wand needs work.

>>That is pretty off, you put it on the end of her ear when it should be closer to the side burns.<<

--Bad example. Her sideburns dont even appear on that image. The style is inconsistent anyway: look: [link] More like mine.

>>You have her turn to her "right" around 30 degrees from the front view right?? that should be a profile shot, no matter how she's posed.<<

--This is a profile shot: [link] Plus, a character can always turn her neck or twist her waist. It's no good applying the same "30 degrees" logic to her entire body.

>>as for the coloring of her vest, [link] See how the vest is colored darker when it's behind their chest. That's what I meant, shade it in.<<

--It is shaded. The swatch was taken directly from that image. I wanted the colours to be uniform throughout to give it a slight 'cell-shaded' look. I dont know how dark you want it to be.

I need to see your skeletal/wireframe set up for this one then, because it's pretty confusing.

--And I think I already showed you how to shade on the AIM chat, so hopefully you got that down. Even if it is too dark, you can always change the hue and saturation.

--As for the eye glow thing, I'll ask Vinz how he does it, because I think you need to require more steps to pull it off on PSP. The ones I showed you are done on Photoshop.

Anyways, I'll post whatever we made today and make fun of you some more....Go post that comic page :D...show it to puffheadz she'll like it for sure, I know you think it sucks, but since you claim it's still better than mine, show it to the others :D

--Only to you. Posture is fine. These "errors" are in your head. Plus, the request for a wireframe doesnt even relate to my statement, proving that you have no idea what you're talking about.

--Yeah, I saw how you ruined it. Given the choice, I'd leave it as it is.

-- Yes it does, I want to see your claim that you mentioned earlier, that her head can turn 30 degrees but not the rest of her body excuse.

"--Yeah, I saw how you ruined it. Given the choice, I'd leave it as it is."

--I should've asked for that PSP file after all. Anyways, sent it over my email, I'll try to work it out. DO you mind if I change the linear slightly? or do you want to keep it as it is?

--??? You don't actually believe that a person can turn their head without moving their body? Oookaaay....

Hey, it's still better than anything I could do.

I watched a little bit of the anime, and while it has its flaws and strays pretty far from the original plotline, it's still pretty good.
